In today's booming global trade, international logistics, as the core link connecting markets of various countries, has a direct impact on cost control and customer experience for enterprises. At present, the mainstream international logistics methods are mainly divided into four categories: sea freight, air freight, land freight, and international express delivery, each with unique advantages and applicable scenarios. Enterprises need to make accurate decisions based on their own needs.
International sea freight is currently the most commonly used logistics method in global trade, divided into two forms: full container load (FCL) and bulk cargo (LCL). It has the advantages of the lowest cost and large transportation capacity, and is suitable for the transportation of bulk goods, heavy goods, and non emergency general cargo. The delivery time usually ranges from 20 to 50 days. With the upgrading of logistics services, sea freight lines now offer 'double clearance and tax inclusive door-to-door' services, greatly reducing the pressure on enterprises to clear customs.
International air freight focuses on efficiency and speed, with a delivery time of 5-15 days, suitable for high-value and time sensitive goods such as electronic products, precision instruments, etc. Traditional air freight is only responsible for transporting to the destination airport, while air freight dedicated lines can achieve double clearance and tax inclusive door-to-door delivery, suitable for cross-border e-commerce FBA first leg and other scenarios.
International land transportation is mainly based on cross-border road (card air) and railway intermodal transportation. The transportation capacity of China Europe freight trains, China Vietnam railways and other routes is stable, with a time efficiency between sea and air transportation, and a lower cost than air transportation. It is suitable for bulk cargo transportation in countries along the land route. International express delivery services such as DHL, UPS, etc. have the fastest delivery time (3-7 days) but the highest cost, making them suitable for urgent documents, samples, and high-value small items.
When choosing a company, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the attributes of the goods, time requirements, budget costs, and customs clearance needs. There is no optimal way, only the most suitable choice. Reasonably combining different logistics methods can effectively optimize supply chain efficiency and reduce overall costs.
