The deepening implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has brought unprecedented development opportunities for global trade and international logistics, especially promoting trade facilitation and logistics coordination within the Asia Pacific region, becoming an important help for foreign trade enterprises to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
RCEP covers 15 member countries and is the world's largest free trade agreement. Its core benefits are concentrated in three aspects: tariff reduction, customs clearance convenience, and industrial chain synergy. According to the agreement, member countries will gradually reduce tariffs and achieve zero tariffs on some goods, significantly reducing the import and export costs of enterprises, especially benefiting trade exchanges in regions such as ASEAN, Japan, and South Korea. Data shows that from January to May 2025, the trade volume of goods between China and RCEP member countries reached 5.5 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%, which is higher than the overall growth rate of foreign trade.
In the field of logistics, RCEP promotes the continuous improvement of the regional logistics network, and the China Laos Thailand freight trains have achieved normalized operation, reducing the operating time from 8 days to 5 days and reducing logistics costs by 15% year-on-year; Port routes are constantly being encrypted, and fresh goods such as ASEAN fruits are quickly entering the Chinese market through convenient customs clearance policies.
For enterprises, they should fully utilize the benefits of RCEP policies, familiarize themselves with the tariff preferential rules of each member country, apply for certificates of origin to enjoy tariff reductions, optimize their supply chain layout based on regional logistics networks, reasonably transfer production capacity to member countries, further expand international market space, and enhance core competitiveness.
